Located in the heart of Colombia, the Andes region is one of the most populated areas of the country. Its geography, water resources, and great cultural and natural wealth will leave you wanting more.
There are three branches or Codilleras (in Spanish) of the Colombian Andes—the Cordillera Occidental, Cordillera Central, and Cordillera Oriental. Our Andean ADVENTURES will primarily be based out of the Cordillera Oriental or Eastern Branch, where the capital city, Bogota is located.
Here you can expect a subtropical highland climate. The average temperature is around 15 °C or about 60 °F. Dry and rainy seasons alternate throughout the year. The driest months are December, January, July and August. The rainiest months are April, May, September, October, and November, in which typical days are mostly overcast with low clouds and some winds, bringing maximum temperatures of 18 °C (64 °F) and lows of 7 °C (45 °F). We mention this because it isn’t the climate that comes to mind when we think of Colombia, but the beauty lies in the diversity of the Colombian ecosystem.
